Mechanical Dinosaur

Sadie August 31st, 2007

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve had several chase dreams involving dinosaurs.  I dreamed it again last night only different from ever before.  This time the dinosaur was mechanical.  It did not seem to care about my mom, but it was going for me.  I was there with my brother and he was blowing a hairdryer at it to make it overheat.  It seemed to be bothering it and we quick ran and hid behind a bed.  I was armed with bug spray but I didn’t know if it would do anything.  When it came around we rolled under the bed.  We could watch its feet to see where it was.  It was a very stressful dream and I don’t remember much more than that.

Journey

Sadie August 30th, 2007

Last night I dreamed that I was leaving for a journey.  I don’t know where we were going or why.  Every time we left we had to turn around because I overlooked bringing something.  I kept thinking it was not important and leaving it behind.  Had to turn back for my keys, then my dog, then my dog’s leash, then my purse; things that it seems should have been important enough to remember.  We stopped somewhere for breakfast.  I was sorting out who owed what because the waitress billed everything to me.  The people I was with were writing me check when I remembered my dog was in the car.  I ran out of the restraunt.  When I opened my car door he was hot and sweaty and moving really slow.  I appologized and told him I would never do that to him again.  Then we went somewhere else but I can’t remember why.  As we were coming out of the building, I again panicked as I realized that I had left my dog in my car.  I was relieved to see the windows down, but where was my dog?  I ran and opened the door.  He was not in there.  I panicked as I looked up I saw him in a park across the street.  When I called him he came running back to me.

Long Day

Sadie August 29th, 2007

I’ve had a very long and stressful day.  I am surprised I can even type at this point.  I am going to drink some chardonnay, read a book, and have a dream!

Two Years Later…

Sadie August 29th, 2007

Today, Aug 29, marks two years since Hurricane Katrina devistated the city of New Orleans.  Hard to believe it has been that long already to those of us who are not living it.  Imagine those who live there though.  Thousands are still homeless, parts of the city are still in shambles, and economic growth in general is very low.  We have dumped so much money into a war, while people at home are being neglected.  I don’t understand that.  Remind me again why we re-elected president Bush?  Oh yeah- nevermind.  I didn’t vote for him.  Think of the people in New Orleans as you enjoy your shelter, food, and luxuries today.

Hot Dog Anyone?

Caterpillar

My mom found this sick caterpillar on her deck a few days ago.  Is there a nuclear plant around here that I don’t know about?  Gross!  I told her she should have taken the picture with something next to it to show its size.  She said it was about the size of half a hot dog and it stretched out even bigger.  All I keep thinking every time I look at this picture is that it probably has the texture of a hot dog if you bit into it.  Not that you would, yuck!  Does anyone have any idea what this turns into?  I’ve been trying to find it online but I havent found it yet.  Click the picture to get a better look at it.

update-  I think I found what it is.  Cecropia moth/Robin moth

Poo Poo Phooey!

Sadie August 28th, 2007

I found a big huge turd in my lawn today.  It was right at the bottom of my steps.  My dog is little and poops cat sized poos so I know it wasn’t him.  How rude!  If my dog crapped in someone’s yard I would run over there with a bag and clean it up before anyone noticed.

Impressive!

I was pretty bummed when I found out about a month and a half ago that the USB port was inoperative on my digital camera.  I use my camera constantly so I was worried to send it to Illinois to have repairs done.  Fortunately it was still under factory warranty.  I finally brought myself to sending the camera out last Tuesday, Aug 21 because my memory cards were all full.  I came home from work this afternoon to a box at my front door.  I was excited thinking it was my most recent ebay purchase.  Far better!  It was my digital camera already!  It is fixed and working perfectly.  I am so impressed with the fast service I received from Canon.  Being a waranty claim and not a paying customer I was sure it would take several weeks.  Not just the fast service, but when I called the customer service line they were very helpful and friendly.  Hats off to Canon.

New Flavor

Sadie August 27th, 2007

Last night I had trouble sleeping.   I was awake all night tossing and turning.  My boyfriend wasn’t sleeping too well either.  He told me this morning that he had a dream that he was at his apartment.  In his dream he was trying to sleep and couldn’t.  He got up and went to the bathroom to take some NyQuil to help him sleep.  He had purchased the newest flavor, salsa.  He drank a shot of it and he said there were chunks like regular salsa.  It was disgusting but he got a buzz and was getting sleepy so he drank some more and it put him to sleep.  Yikes.  Watch out for that flavor!  I think I’d rather have insomnia.

Skinners

Sadie August 27th, 2007

Living in a small town means coming up with crazy ideas to get attention I guess.  This weekend was Juneau August Fest.  I know, sounds like a wild and crazy weekend right?  Seriously though, one of the main attractions is always the “buckskinners.”  I don’t get it.  They are regular people who dress up in crazy clothes and live in tepees in the city park for the weekend.  They don’t shower all weekend and they smell awful.  The children are dirty and run around like little animals.  Some of them sell junk like deer skins.  You would have to see it to believe it.  I saw a 400+ lb woman wearing a deer skin dress, a man who looked like a pirate (?), and most of them were sporting big gnarly beards (women included).  Does anyone understand this?  I mean- please fill me in.
