So True

Sadie September 30th, 2007

I have always been amazed at the way an ordinary observer lends so much more credence and attaches so much more importance to waking events than to those occurring in dreams…. Man… is above all the plaything of his memory.  ~Andre Breton, “Manifesto of Surrealism,” 1924

Walking Over the Marsh

Sadie September 30th, 2007

Last night I dreamed that I was walking to Horicon.  I had to walk over the Horicon Marsh to get there.  I was walking along when I realized I was on a wooden pontoon bridge.  I was behind someone and they slowed way down realizing the marsh was high and now we were on a lake.  There was a part of the bridge that was under water.  There was no choice but to cross it though.  The bridge started swaying and I fell down.  I was trying desperately to keep my purse and my cell phone dry.  Water was splashing through and the bridge was swaying.  I was paddling over the edges.  A swimmer swam up to me.  It was a little boy.  I guessed he was around 10 years old.  I asked him how deep the water was.  He took a deep breath and went to the bottom with his feet.  His head was about a foot from the surface of the water when he was touching the bottom.  I was relieved that I would be able to hold my purse and phone above water if I fell in.  I saw some otters swimming in the water.  I finally got across the bridge when my little sister showed up.  She was swimming.  There was a beaver which we were calling an otter.  She was trying to pet it because it was so cute.  I was warning her that even though they are so cute they bite.  I explained a rabies shot and that was enough to scare her from touching it anymore.  Looking back, my dream changed from me crossing the marsh to crossing the street, although my sister swam across the street.  I went into my neighbor’s house were I was staying.  I had an airbed in his kitchen and I was going to make cookies for a customer at work.

Pure Imagination

Dreaming is an act of pure imagination, attesting in all men a creative power, which if it were available in waking, would make every man a Dante or Shakespeare.  ~H.F. Hedge~

On the Ocean

Sadie September 27th, 2007

I was on the ocean with my dad in a canoe or some sort of small boat.  we were headed towards Florida, but we saw a really bad storm coming our way.  We headed back, which was the direction we lived, rushing to beat the storm.  We got back and he told me we needed to go into the basement.  The clouds were black and moving fast.  I went downstairs and he was installing a red light in the safest place to go when there was a storm like this.  Then everyone would know where to go.  I went into a small room which was the safest place.  Mr. T was sleeping on laundry that was piled on the floor next to me.  I saw that my parents had a lot of washing machines and some dryers.  That’s when the strom hit.  It was hitting hard and we could not go upstairs because the house could go.  Then water started rushing in.  It was pouring in the basement windows and the walls. I had to run upstairs for my cell phone and I looked at the black and dark blue cloudss.  i remember there were some really blue clouds.  The storm was blowing over and it was safe to be upstiars.  I watched the clouds blowing away and the colors were really significant in my dream.  (Dream Journal, recorded April 09, 2005)

The baseball that Barry Bonds hit his 756th home run with, breaking Hank Aaron’s record, will be branded with an asterisk.  Ha.  The man who purchased the home run record breaking ball in an online auction posted an internet poll asking what he should do with it, one option being nothing at all.  Following branding the ball with an asterisk, it will be sent to the Baseball Hall of Fame.  Needless to say, Bonds is pissed and continues to deny that he “knowingly” took performance enhancing drugs.  Personally I love the fact that fans brought the huge asterisk signs to the games and waved them around, and I do think there should be a disclosure about drug use on the case that holds the ball, but I think the ball itself should be left alone.

T Rocks!

Sadie September 24th, 2007

Mr T   I have a great dog.  Today Mr T was playing with Squeaky Lion, his current favorite toy.  I wanted to play with him so I picked up his old (but forever) favorite toy, Squeaky Hedgehog.  I should change its name because it no longer has a squeaker.  In fact, it no longer has stuffing even.  All I have to do is show Squeaky Hedgehog to him and he goes wild.  Anyway, I put my hand in the gaping hole in the side of Squeaky Hedgehog and put my fingers in its legs and walked it like a puppet.  He went crazy!  I even tricked him into coming into my lap so I could cut his nails by distracting him with it.  Now he is laying passed out on my lap.  He is exhausted from playing.  He rocks.

New House

Sadie September 24th, 2007

I dreamed that my parents moved into a huge new house.  It was beautiful and had all new furniture.  It still smelled like fresh paint and new carpet.  I had to go through many rooms to get to the kitchen where I was going.  I was checking on my brother and sister who were home alone.  My sister was in there.  She said my brother was playing outside.  I handed her two cookies, one for her and one for him.  She broke it and started throwing a fit.  I gave her another one and she broke that too.  All that were left were broken cookies so I gave her two broken ones.  She was mad.  I went to get a broom to clean up the mess on the floor from the cookies.  I was trying to find the dust pan.  I finally found what I needed.  My parents came home as I was cleaning up the mess.  As I was leaving I noticed that they had pictures hanging on the wall in really strange places.  One was partly covering a window and one was very crooked and off center.  I asked my mom about it and she seemed frustrated saying, “I don’t know!”  I promised I would come back later and help her hang the pictures.

The Grocery Store

Sadie September 24th, 2007

I dreamt that my office was located in the old grocery store.  We were still moving out, but there was a bank moving in.  I knew of this new bank coming in and I was extremely upset when I found out that the new bank manager and the store owner had been reviewing my security tapes.  I knew that this was unethical and illegal.  I went shopping in the store and was picking out chocolate ice cream in the freezer section when a Coca Cola guy stopped me to tell me he would not be in on Monday.  I went to the registers and was waiting in line to buy my groceries.  There were about 6 registers and they were all open.  I knew a lot of the people in line.  All of a sudden everyone was singing American Pie by Don McLean at the top of their lungs.  It was like being in a musical.  There was even one of my customers who busted out a harmonica.  Everyone was having a great time and I turned to someone and said, “only in Juneau.”  They agreed.  On my way out of the store I mentioned to the store owner and the new bank manager that they needed to stop looking at my security tapes until my bank left the store completely.  Then I remember thinking about how many fees that bank has and how hardly any of my customers would close their accounts to bank with them, in the store or not.

Quotable

I got some good  Edgar Allan Poe quotes from a friend so I thought I would start sharing them.  Maybe I will post other people’s quotes later on.  Let me know what you think of them.

“Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.”  ~Edgar Allan Poe~
