Today is the last day of 2007. I don’t have much to say about it.  We’ll probably (hopefully) be home well before midnight on this amatuer drinking night. Besides, I’d rather ring in the New Year alone with my guy than out with the drunks. Whatever you do for New Year’s Eve, have fun and be safe.

My mom’s cousin, long time radio personality JD Barber, passed away on Friday. Here is the Capital Times article:
JD Barber, who ruled the Madison morning airwaves during the 1980s and early 1990s, died Friday of a heart attack at his home in Middleton. He was 65.
Barber, whose real name was Edward P. Tisdale, first came to Madison in 1969 as a disc jockey at WISM radio. He stayed for a year, then went to Two Rivers doing music, morning humor and sports play-by-play. He returned to Madison in 1980 with Z104 and within a year, his morning show topped the ratings. Later, he worked for Q106, where he also led the Madison market.
Barber left the day-to-day radio life about five years ago, although he still did a Saturday morning shift for WJVL in Janesville.
He is survived by his wife, Ruthann, two daughters and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at Gunderson West Funeral Home, 7435 University Ave. in Middleton on Monday at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services.

I just finished reading In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner. It was great. If you have seen the movie you know the story line. It is about two sisters who are completely different, their mother died when they were young, they have a wicked step mother, and a grandma they didn’t know about. I just made the book sound awful, but it was really good. I think most women would like it. I’m glad it was recommended to me!!

I finally remembered a dream again! Wooo! That’s what happens when you don’t have to wake up to an alarm clock.Â
I dreamt that I was somewhere where there were lots of kids. They were all dressed up in Halloween costumes. One of them did not have his costume. He said that his mom forgot it was dress up day. My mom and I started looking around and we found some things for sale. We found a pair of Spider Man slippers and something else Spider Man. There were only a few pairs left, but they happened to fit the boy perfectly. We were going to dress him up so he wouldn’t feel so bad. I don’t know how but next I ended up in a car. I was the passenger. It was my mom’s car, but I think the driver was one of my co-workers. We were at a stop sign, waiting to turn onto a boulevard with grassy medians between the two directions of traffic. We had plenty of time, but she waited and then turned when a car was coming. We almost hit the car. She panicked and turned into traffic the wrong way. I told her we were in the wrong lane but she wasn’t listening. We had cars heading straight at us. Most of them noticed we were coming at them and got into the other lane, but one car didn’t until the last minute. The car missed us by inches. I looked into the mirror and saw the car hit the curb, sparks flying, swerve and then I knew they crashed. I started sobbing, but I couldn’t make the tears come. I knew I was forcing myself and I really didn’t feel terribly upset.  She kept driving, finally pulling into the parking lot at an airport. I told her I would take over driving and we should get out of there, but she wouldn’t listen. I next remember being in line at the airport, going through security, when I heard sirens. I knew the accident was bad. Next I saw police officers grabbing her. They found her because she was the only one around with that car and peanut butter on her face. I looked at her to see that she did have peanut butter on her chin. I wondered how someone had given that description of her when we were together and I hadn’t noticed the peanut butter.

Last night, I was just finishing my supper of Spaghettios when I hear a ruckus at my back door. I jumped, unsure if someone was on my deck or if my roof was caving in from snow. Mr. T was going wild, barking like there was someone out there. I flipped on the light and cautiously peeked out the window to see a huge orange cat. I took Mr. T to the bathroom and locked him in so I could see what the cat wanted. I went back to the door and when I opened it, my cat came running in. She had apparently tried to sneak out when I took my dog out, only to get stuck in between the doors. The orange cat must have been fighting with her through the door. I let my dog out of the bathroom and he ran after her making a funny noise. I thought at first that he was trying to eat her until I picked her up and sat down. He sat right next to me sniffing her to be sure she was okay. Aw, how cute. And he tries to kill other cats.

Last night I was washing my mattress pad from my bed. While it was in the dryer I was straightening up my bedside table. There was a bottle of NyQuil that I picked up to put away. Well, I dropped it. Although there is a child safety cap on the bottle, when it hit my table the cap popped off splashing red, cherry NyQuil all over my table, mattress, and ivory cloth lampshade. I grabbed the first thing I could find which was Woolite Oxy Deep carpet spot cleaner and sprayed it all over the lampshade and mattress. I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the color dissolving right away. I used hot water and a towel to finish cleaning the mess, but there is no red to be found on either my mattress or lampshade thanks to the Woolite Oxy Deep. I recommend it to everyone for cleaning ANY fabric, not just carpet.

Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and got everything they wanted. Mine was great even thought none of you got me a puppy. One more week before the new year, and that means only 3 weeks before I go to Europe. This year flew by, but then again we say that every year. A new year means many great things; new baseball season starting soon, my vacation time has been replenished, tax returns. I’m looking forward to all of it.

I can’t believe I’m going to work in the horrible weather we’re having just to set a good example! I only have to work for 3-4 hours today, and I know the roads are icy and drifted, but it’s Christmas Eve so how would it look if the boss didn’t show up. Yesterday I drove home from Appleton in this horrible weather. It took me almost twice as long to get home in the near white-out conditions. I tried to warm up my car before I left, but my doors were all frozen shut. Finally I got in the back passenger side door and climbed around opening all of the doors. When I first started my suicide death mission I turned on my windshield wipers which happened to be stuck to the window. Usually when that happens your wipers just don’t move. Not mine, the wiper blades ripped off. I stopped at WalMart on the way home and they were out of my driver’s side wiper blades. I would even have bought the really expensive ones, but they were gone too. Then I was on a back road that when I turned onto it my tires spun and spun on the ice before I finally got going. Keeping this in mind I was going very slow. I approached an intersection at about 25mph, started slowing very early, and slid right through it. Only the guy behind me who could see my break lights even knew I tried to stop. Drive safe out there today.

I always discover what I really want for Christmas when the holiday is already upon me and everyone has bought my presents. Well, I want a puppy. I want a little girl dachshund to be Mr. T’s sister. Now that I work further from home, I’ve decided that he needs a sister. Although I prefer a dachshund, it really could be any cute very little dog. I’m thinking the 10lb range, chihuahua, bichon frise, miniature greyhound, maltese, any of the toy breed that I can dress in cute little clothes and carry in a bag. She would have a pretty collar and dresses and I would paint her toenails for sure. So, if anyone is trying to think of a last minute gift idea, I’m so not kidding- Get me a baby girl dog.

GREEN DAY “Working Class Hero” (live)
Lyrics:
As soon as your born they make you feel small,
By giving you no time instead of it all,
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school,
They hate you if you’re clever and they despise a fool,
Till you’re so fucking crazy you can’t follow their rules,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
When they’ve tortured and scared you for twenty odd years,
Then they expect you to pick a career,
When you can’t really function you’re so full of fear,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV,
And you think you’re so clever and classless and free,
But you’re still fucking peasents as far as I can see,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
There’s room at the top they are telling you still,
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill,
If you want to be like the folks on the hill,
A working class hero is something to be.
A working class hero is something to be.
If you want to be a hero well just follow me,
If you want to be a hero well just follow me.
