Yesterday my boyfriend and I along with Fuzz and Tracy went on a brewery and winery tour. First we toured the Sprecher Brewery. Then we toured the Cedar Creek Winery. It was lots of fun. I’d never done a tour like that before and I’d love to do it again! The only downfall was also freakin hilarious. There was a guy, lets just call him The Admiral, who should have been leading the tour. Well, he thought so. The Admiral asked the stupidest questions and then asked the answer to show what a tool he was. Why do you use oak for the barrels? Is it because it gives the best flavor? Oh, and we saw a really sweet convertible. Remember that guys?

If you are thinking of going on any type of a vacation adventure, you had better start getting organized. Otherwise it might never happen. Making travel plans might seems like a lot of effort at first, but it will actually be quite fun once you get going. There are tons of websites, books, magazines and even television shows that will give you great ideas about where to go and what to do. Take some time to run through all your many options, then start booking.
I have been thinking about making travel plans again. I just don’t know where I want to go. Where should I go this time?

Today I toured a local food pantry. People are often very negative about some of the people who go there, saying that they abuse the system, etc. For that reason, I assumed that I would visit the food pantry and the woman who runs it would be very positive and supportive of these people, telling us how the majority of the people who go there are just there to get back on their feet blah blah blah. Nope. She instead was extremely negative talking about how they don’t turn anyone down but she would love to turn some people down and how she sometimes says things to people to make them feel unwelcome to come back. Then she told us stories about the people who are abusing the system and how if someone is caught lying twice they ban them from the food. It was horrible and I left with the most negative feeling! I thought to myself, I’m never donating to a food drive again! Of course I will. If that is what it takes to keep it open and by being open, it benefits even one family who would not make it otherwise, it is worth it.

There’s no place like home. I missed American bathrooms (toilets, showers) more than anything else. Not true; I missed my dog more. Well, I’m back, and though the weather was like spring in London and Paris, and its in the negatives here, I’m still happy to be home.

For weeks now people have been asking me if I’ve packed yet. NO I HAVEN’T! So there. Well, now I’m thinking I should. I hate packing. Maybe tonight…

A passport, as I’m sure you know, is a document that one shows to government officials whenever one reaches a border between countries, so the officials can learn who you are, where you were born, and how you look when photographed unflatteringly. ~Lemony Snicket

A fellow manager from work just went on a trip to Colombia, South America. To think of how excited I am to go to Europe, I couldn’t even imagine going somewhere exotic like Colombia. Well, how’s this for crappy? He came back with what they think is some kind of Colombian fungus. He has red welts all over his body and will not get his test results back for a few days. In the mean time, he can not have face-to-face contact with anyone. Poor guy. That sucks! How is he going to answer people when they ask him how his trip was? Well, I caught an exotic fungus.

I hope I have everything in order! I
- copied my passport, id, credit cards
- placed travel notifications with my card companies
- charged two sets of batteries for my camera
- bought memory cards that should hold up to 1400 pictures or video and pics
- printed of copies of my travel itineraries
Am I forgetting anything? I’m SO excited to see my friend and for her to show us around!

Today I called to place travel notifications on my credit and debit cards. My goodness, they sure know how to scare a person! The first one I called was great, nothing scary except for their currency conversion fee. The next one I called made you place a travel notification through an automated system. There was a recording at the end telling you that if you do have your credit card lost or stolen, call them collect at a certain phone number. It gave an explanation of how to call them collect, through an operator, not a service, be sure to call immediately.  The final place I called, which I am happy to say was the company who services my bank, gave the best customer service. I was able to speak with a person without holding, but at the end of the call they told me the number to call if my cards get stolen, as well as the country code, and the process! I guess it was the number for Master Card and I may be transferred a bit. She also gave me the number for VISA, just in case I brought VISA cards! Hmmm. I would completely freak if I lost my credit cards out of the country. I wish I didn’t have to bring them at all, but you never know if you might need them. They all ended their calls with, “Have a safe trip!â€Â Thanks.
